Caller having problems downloading antivirus and spyware removal programs while using Norton. to scan in safe mode. Will not uninstall without changes. Uninstalled Norton antivirus. Downloaded, installed Avast antivirus Avast is now running a startup (boot) scan of the system. This may take a while. I instructed caller to remove all, if any, viruses that the scan finds. Scan running so he went to eat supper. Will call back after he finishes eating to complete the removal and installation of avast. Norton AV .. XP ... registry cleaner trial ... ADware ZRXToolbar ... ewido scanner ... cannot run norton update ... may require safe mode and did system restore. Customer called back and was getting stuck on safe mode boot we restarted a few times now we did a chkdsk. Customer called back and still was booting in safe mode walked him thru msconfig went to boot.ini unchecked bootsafemode and customer was happy.
